June 1st: Thibault Gauriau from ILM, Floating Utopia and Gardens by the Bay

We started the day by meeting with Thibault from ILM who is a Lead FBX Artist and Director, and he came to talk with us about working in the field of FBX as well ad tips and tricks to get a job in the creative industry. Thibault worked on many movies at Lucas Films and Disney, with big names like the Avengers movies as well as all the new Star Wars films. It was an incredible honor to hear about his work, he was so kind as well and honest and knowledgeable about the reality of working in the industry. He didn't glamorize the work, but at the same time he didn't discourage us either. He was truly an amazing speaking and I was so inspired just hearing him talk, and he made me want to improve myself more.

Later that day, we went back to the Artscience museum to look at the new exhibit, The Floating Utopias. This exhibit was all about using balloons in different ways over the years, from blimps, to art exhibits, to political pieces. It was a very unique subject for an exhibit, and It was really interesting to see the different applications balloons are used. My favorite was the "Yes Men" which featured a strange inflatable suit for humans, fitted with strange gadgets for survival. There was also a video which revealed that the suits were made as a political message. They made the suits as a ridiculous idea to pitch to businessmen to show how the wealthy corporations will even try to make money in times of crisis. The film showed that several investors took interest in the idea.

The last event for the day was at the Gardens at the Bay, to see the light show at the Mega Trees. We got tickets to go up on the sky bridge and timed it to see the music and the light show as we were standing up there. It was a magical experience, and some of the most fun I had. The pictures I have don't do it justice, but I am so happy and grateful to have seen something that magical.
